Public hearing explores future of Crescent Creek Park

BY NEIL REIMER neil.reimer@sunmedia.ca Council for the Town of Teulon had a public hearing Aug. 12 before their regular meeting. Ten people from the community came to the meeting to hear what was being said and to express their opinions. Before the meeting began, they were given forms to fill out so council could be informed of what their concerns were. The public hearing was to address the town?s plans to rezone a piece of land near the junction of Highway 7 and Provincial Road 415, near Crescent Creek Park. The town plans on rezoning land it owns there $

Another was the town has had some concept plans drawn up to show any potential developer what could possibly be done at the location. Early in the meeting, council stated there would be no further mobile home development on this piece of land. In the concept plan, there are drawings showing how the land could be used for single-family homes or duplexes. These would be ideal for people who are 55 plus, but that doesn?t mean they would be the only ones who could have access to any new homes put up there,

Council informed the public they were taking a property and making it available for development. The residents who came to the meeting were very interested in finding out as much information as possible about what was going to be done to the piece of land owned by the town and located across from Crescent Creek Park. They also came to voice their opinions. Many of the opinions that were expressed to council informed the local government how some of the residents very strongly object to the land being used for low-income housing.
